January 2022 - Forest School
January 2022 - Class 1's book 'The Gingerbread Man' came to life as they hunted for him - eventually finding video evidence of him running around Mr Mashiter's office!

January 2022 - Provision for the first week back!
December 2021
Monday 22nd November
During Forest school yesterday, some of us used loppers with an adult to cut willow that we were using for our magic nature Wands.
We are learning about seasons and today we found out about the Arctic and what the weather conditions are like. We used small world play to explore the Arctic. We identified some Arctic animals and used pipettes to melt the ice. We used new vocabulary such as freezing, melting, ice and brinicles.
Monday 15th November
We found a few, deep holes so the children dug the soil to fill the holes! This will make our site a little bit safer! xx
Monday 8th November
We also made stick frames and leaf ‘sparklers’ in Forest school this week!One of our poppy activities was to create our own poppy using a variety of resources!

Pumpkins Pumpkins Pumpkins!!!
This week, we read the story ‘We’re going on a pumpkin hunt’ by Goldie Hawk and then we went on a pumpkin hunt around school to see all of the wonderful pumpkins that the children have brought in from home. We also listened to the story ‘Pumpkin soup’ by Helen Cooper. This inspired us to prepare and make our very own delicious pumpkin soup! Some of us explored pumpkins at Forest School, and we buried the pulp underground as a tasty snack for the mini-beasts.
What a wonderful half term it has been! All of the children have settled into school brilliantly and we are all so proud of everybody. This half term, we have learnt lots about ourselves and got to know each other very well. Next half term, our theme is ‘Seasons and Celebrations’ which will include; Seasonal changes, Christmas, Cultural celebrations, Our environment and Colour mixing.
Reminders...
- Water bottles need to be brought in daily which children can access throughout the day.
- Please remember to read with your child at home and sign the reading record after reading.
- Please sign and return the ‘Forest School’ permission slip.
- Please complete homework and practice verbal spellings at home.
- The correct school uniform must be worn daily e.g. School jumper, tie, shirt/polo top, pants/skirt, black school shoes.

Thursday 21st October
Today at Forest school, we cut open a pumpkin and took out the seeds and the pulp. We then dug a hole in the ground to bury the pulp. This will be a tasty snack for the minibeasts underground.
We also collected our own sticks and made ‘God’s eye’ crafts using string and wool.
Wednesday 20th October
This week, we listened to the story ‘Pumpkin soup’ by Helen Cooper. We then prepared our own pumpkin soup, using our cutting skills, listening carefully to the instructions.

Friday 8th October
This week we have been exploring our super powers such as helpful, friendly, caring and kind. We have also dressed up as super heroes, performed nursery rhymes on our outdoor stage and created observational drawings of real pumpkins. The pumpkins have been kindly brought in by Mrs Hadfield who has been growing them in her own pumpkin patch since March! Thankyou Mrs Hadfield!
Reminders...

- Reading books need to be brought into school daily.
- Please complete homework and practice verbal spellings at home.
