Season of Creation

In this season, we pray more and try to do extra actions to care for our common home. Please watch our video below and remember the importance of our continued environmental work and responsibility.

Opening of Eco-Classroom by Bishop John Arnold

After months of hard work and preparation, we were finally able to open our eco-classroom, made entirely of eco-bricks that had been stuffed with waste plastics by our families and the local parish.  On May 2nd, we were honored that Bishop John Arnold was able to visit us to officially open the classroom. His visit left him determined to press on with plans for an eco-classroom in the grounds of Salford Cathedral and he kindly said that our school is 'leading the way in the fight against waste plastics'

A week later, BBC News North-West visited school and ran three features on us which were broadcast throughout the day to millions of people at home. We also had a special 'eco-hut', made entirely out of eco-bricks made by our local community, which was constructed on Brighton beach before being delivered to school. This caused quite a stir as newspapers as far away as Australia and China reported on what our school had achieved. We also had a special letter from David Attenborough commending our children for the work they had done.

The children now have a fully equipped, eco-friendly outdoor classroom which they constantly use. It has also brought the local community together and made them feel a part of our family here at St. Mary's. We also have many more plans for the future!!!

Below is a specially made video which chronicles the visit of Bishop John and the months of preparation leading up to the visit...
